Fabrics & Ropes
Acrylic, Polyester and Olefin are synthetic fabrics suitable for indoor and outdoor use. They are solution-dyed, making them highly resistant to color fading, wear, and stains. Homeowners can clean both fabrics easily with a soap and water solution. For Otazen standard, we are using Acrylic fabrics from Agora, Polyester from Texstyle DK and Olifin fabrics from Sunproof.
Acrylic
- 100% Solution Dyed Acrylic
- Acrylic fabrics feel flexible.
- Acrylic fabrics can truly repel liquids.
- Acrylic fabrics are better at preventing mold and mildew, and they offer slightly better resistance to color fading.
Polyester
- 100% Solution Dyed Polyester
- Colors are more durable and less likely to fade.
- Dyeing occurs during the fiber production process, not afterward.
- More resistant to sun exposure.
- Fibers have deeper and more integrated colors.
- Resistant to extreme weather conditions.
Olefin
- Olefin fabrics are generally highly resistant to stains and highly durable, and can withstand punctures, rips, and tears better.
- Olefin fabrics feel stiffer.
- Olefin fabrics can repel liquids.
Recommendations
- Polyester & Olefin fabrics can be used for outdoor furniture but require more maintenance, such as providing sun protection and keeping the furniture under a shade. It also has better durability, puncture, tear, and wear resistance, improved stain resistance, and is still colorfast, cleanable with a bleach solution, antimicrobial, and quick-drying.
- Use Acrylic fabrics if you are looking for 100% outdoor protection, the best color fastness and UV-fade-resistance, critical that your new upholstery repel liquid like water off duck’s back, something incredibly resistant to mold and mildew, important to be able to treat stains simply with only bleach and water, and putting your pieces outside without any protection.
- OTAZEN recommends Acrylic Fabrics for outdoor furniture as they are suitable for outdoor use. However, if you are looking for a less expensive option that still looks good, Olefin Fabrics can be a good alternative.
